Role of People Professionals in Supporting Leadership and Management Development Initiatives
People professionals are in charge of identifying, developing, and putting into action learning and development interventions that increase managers’ and leaders’ capacities to achieve the strategic goals of the company (Middlebrooks, 2018). The role of human resources specialists in supporting Organisation’s leadership and management development initiatives is discussed in this section.
Establishing Learning and Development Needs
Middlebrooks (2018) notes that people specialists may do requirements analysis, which involves evaluating the knowledge, abilities, and behaviors necessary for effective leadership and management at the Organisation. A new manager, for instance, could require training in conflict resolution, effective communication, and decision-making methods. By doing a requirements analysis, people managers may make sure that learning and development efforts are tailored to the new manager’s specific needs.
Developing and Implementing Learning and Development Interventions for Management and Leadership
People specialists can create and deliver a variety of interventions, such as coaching, mentoring, seminars, and e-learning. For example, human resources professionals at the Organisation can design and provide leadership training that emphasizes enhancing strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Providing Advice on Individual and Group Development
People specialists may provide guidance on developing and implementing a personal development plan that is in line with the strategic goals of the company, per (Cortellazzo, et al., 2019). For instance, in order to improve their leadership skills, new managers may need to concentrate on particular initiatives or enroll in outside training programs. Management may seek the guidance of people specialists on the selection of appropriate projects and training programs, as well as on how to take use of these opportunities to advance their capabilities.
